My Take on the Famous Austrian Dessert, My Fathers favorite as well as my husbands. It is easy to make but please be careful in handling the phyllo dough. its brittle and breaks easily.It is my favorite cake. You can serve it warm with vanilla Ice Cream and caramel sauce. An outstanding dessert to present to friends.
1 Pkg. Phyllo Dough
1 Cup Buter Melted
10 Granny Smith Apples Peeled And Cut Into Bite Size Pieces
1 Cup Sugar<
1/2 Cup Chopped Walnuts
1 Cup Raisins
1/4 Cup Breadcrumbs
2 Tsp. Cinnamon
Roll out the phyllo. Brush each leave with melted butter.
Mix apples, sugar, cinnamon, raisins and nuts.
Spoon mixture in one border of the dough, star rolling in the shape of a big cigar, closing the sides as well.
Brush with butter and sprinkle with some sugar.
Bake for 35 – 40 minutes in preheat oven to 180.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
